I have been working in the advertising industry for over 20 years. I’ve also been an avid t.v. watcher for a good portion of that time. Commercial jingles, product slogans, and foodie saying contain a great power of suggestion. So, if I say “L’eggo my _______”, I am pretty sure we are talking about toaster waffles.
Like boxed cereal, foods that pop out of a toaster have become a part of the American diet. This recipe for Toaster Waffles cuts out the junk, is cheaper to make, and just as easy to heat up and eat. Let’s let go of the processed version and freeze a stack of these breakfast faves. Toaster Waffles here we come!
- 3 Eggs
- 1 cup of Milk
- 1/2 cup Apple Sauce
- 1 tbsp Vanilla
- 1 cup Flour
- 1 cup Whole Wheat Pastry Flour
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Baking Powder
- 1/8 tsp Cinnamon
- With a hand mixer, beat eggs until they thicken. Add milk, apple sauce and vanilla to eggs and continue to beat together. In a separate bowl, sift flour, salt, baking powder and cinnamon together. Add to egg mixture and stir (by hand) until combined (do not over mix).
