What is Wellness?

What is Wellness?

Have you been asking yourself this question lately?
What is this whole wellness thing all about?
Organic? GMO? Natural?
Does it all really matter? I mean really?!?

Well, I’m here to tell you that your Wellness is a big deal!
How you feel, think and live, really does matter.

Right now in America, we’re sicker, more stressed out and busier than we’ve ever been in history. Our overall health is a reflection of this fact. But the good news is, we do not have to continue on the path where statistics say:

In adults 20 and older, more than one in every 10 people suffers from diabetes, and in seniors (65 and older), that figure rises to more than one in four. (healthline.com)

Someone in the U.S. dies from heart disease about once every 84 seconds. (American Heart Association)

Someone in the United States has a stroke every 40 seconds. (Stroke Association)

Sorry, a bit morbid, I know! BUT, I told you there is GOOD NEWS!!!! Wellness is, totally, a choice!
We can choose to live healthier and happier lives. The first fact is,

Optimal health begins with what we are eating!

Yup! And guess what else????
Some crazy restrictive diet isn’t the only solution.
We can eat delicious meals and lower our chances of falling into those depressing categories I listed above.

It doesn’t stop there. Wellness isn’t just about what we are eating.
How are you living? Stressed? Busy, all of the time?
Our mental state also has a huge impact on our overall wellbeing.

Dane Buettner, author of Blue Zones Solution, studied people around the world that reach the age of 100. These “Blue Zones” are filled with people living longer and better lives than we do here in America. One of the common things they all do is what Buettner calls “Down Shift”. This means they found ways to de-stress, whether that’s taking a nap, enjoying a glass of wine or by simply praying. Stress is a known cause of chronic inflammation. These folks have provided use with helpful examples on how to deal with the stuff that comes up on a daily basis to get us tense and anxious.

I’m a busy working mama of 3 tots. I know what it’s like trying to find solutions to a hectic life. So, know that you have landed on the perfect blog.
Here on the Land, we are going to share tons of ways (and yummy recipes) to live a life of wellness. Yes, it’s possible and not hard to do.
Please follow along on this journey with us and let’s have some fun doing it together!

Cheers!
