I love a good challenge. Not the dangerous and crazy ones. ( I won’t eat a bug no matter how much you offer to pay me!) The challenges I am talking about are the ones that allow you to see yourself doing something that you aren’t accustomed to doing. Maybe they will create a new habit.
For example, I used to eat the same thing for breakfast everyday my freshman year of high school – bacon, egg and cheese on an english muffin. A friend commented that I eat too much bacon. Of course, my defensive response was “No I don’t! I don’t have to eat pork ever again!” A little extreme, I know. Lo and behold, 30 years later, I still haven’t eaten a bit of pork – oh, and I don’t eat any meat that comes from animals on four legs. Yeah, I know I took it a bit too far but it seems to have worked for me all of these years later.
Don’t worry, I am not going to tell you that you need to stop eating meat and become a raw vegan for the next 30 years of your life. But wouldn’t it be fun to try something new or at least follow me as I experiment with giving up sugar, whitening my teeth naturally or better yet 30 days without complaining.
Whatever it is, the real challenge is going to be stepping out of a comfort zone. We all get caught in a rut (how many of you eat the same breakfast everyday?). Why not shake things up a bit and challenge yourself. Join me each month for a new and exciting challenge. Check back next week to see what we are giving a shot for the month of April.
