If you’ve ever read anything by Michael Pollan, the way you look at food and eat will never be the same again.
Pollan finds a way to navigate through the all too confusing health claims and steers us towards “real food”.
His comparison between the way things were done in the past (when our grandmother’s were in the kitchen) and the modern standard America diet, paints a very clear picture as to why we are in the midst of a health crisis.
But have no fear, Michael Pollan’s books give easy direction as to what we should be eating to live healthier lives.
His book Food Rules is one of my favorites. I literally read it on a flight from New York to Houston (with a nap and a snack happening somewhere in between).
Here is a clip of Pollan himself explaining a few of his “Rules”:
This book is definitely recommended reading and a great tool of reference. A little piece of advice:
1. Read the book (start with Food Rules)
2. Pick 3-5 rules to follow
3. Give yourself 3 months to implement all of the selected rules into your everyday life style
Most importantly, enjoy the journey! Putting down the Twinkie and eating more fruit shouldn’t be torturous!
