Is it me or has society made us a bit pessimistic? If I watch two minutes of the local news I find myself saddened, worried and ready to move to some remote island where no one can bother us. Unfortunately, horrible things are happening in the world around us and life may not be exactly how we would have imagined.
I saw a quote once (which gave credit to a few authors so I am not sure who really said it) that goes something like:
Focus on what you have and you will always be satisfied.
Genius! I mean how true is that?
I often have to talk to myself (ok, don’t act like you don’t talk to yourself) and change the negative dialogue going on in my mind. Here is how I translated that verse to say:
(Your name here) focus on what you have because if you don’t you’ll be like a hamster on a wheel, tiring yourself out chasing after what you don’t have.
So when I am:
Annoyed because I have to clean up toys, crumbs and some other human biohazardous material ; I stop and express gratitude that I have 3 little rug rats that I simply adore.
PISSED because I am picking up shoes, putting the butter back in the fridge and whatever for the thousandth time (sorry babe! ) I have to admit that I am truly grateful for a husband that loves and takes really good care of us!
Worried about things happening at my job, losing 10 of my 100 followers, panicking because THE SKY IS FALLING PEOPLE or a multitude of things I freak out about on a regular basis …..
I have to stop myself, find something positive and BE Grateful! Being grateful is a choice for most of us.
Decide to be:
Grateful for Mondays and not just for Fridays!
Grateful for the job you have right now, even if your dream job hasn’t come about yet.
Grateful for amazing friendships during your single days (Thank God for my girls!)
Grateful for (you fill in the rest)…..
So, what are you grateful for? Why don’t you keep a journal and make a list of things you are grateful for on a daily basis. Even if it just one simple thing like someone holding the door for you. What do you think? Share below
Well said!!
